TT 2014: ‘We were re-inventing the wheel’ - Michael Dunlop

Michael Dunlop was delighted to have made it 10 TT wins in total on Wednesday afternoon when he won the second Supersport race, his fifth victory in the Supersport class since 2009.

The victory moves the 25-year old alongside TT greats Giacomo Agostini, Stanley Woods, Ian Lougher and Rob Fisher. He and his team were up most of the night rebuilding engines and working out setup problems.

The win, his third of TT2014, made up for the disappointment of Monday when he could only manage third in the opening Supersport encounter.

"It's class to be sitting here with 10 wins especially as we'd been up all night re-inventing the wheel with the bike. Monday's race was disappointing but we made some massive changes and I was able do what I wanted to do right from the start,” said Dunlop, speaking to bikesportnews.com.

“The bike was 100 times better than the other day and I got my head down from the start and once I'd caught Bruce on the second lap, I could just sit behind him.

"I knew he was in second place and although he gained a bit if time at the pit stop, I closed back in and didn't need to go any harder. It was a bit blowy in places around the course and the mist came down a bit towards the end but I just kept plugging away. There were an awful lot of stones being thrown up but apart from that, it was a great race for me."
