Buildbase BMW’s battered Michael Dunlop rode through the pain of a damaged shoulder after his crash in Sunday’s Superbike race to finish fifth in the Senior TT and recording the second-fastest lap in the history of the event.
Dunlop put in a 132.515mph circuit on the last lap to grab a late top-five finish, gritting his teeth and riding around the pain of his injuries to finish a difficult TT fortnight on a relative high.
“Michael has shown today what a rider he is. He was really battered after his crash on Sunday but went out and showed he’s one of the fastest men around the TT course by setting the second fastest ever lap,” said team boss Steve Hicken.
“It’s all really impressive given the last minute nature of this deal and I think it’d have been a completely different story had we not had the incident in the first race.”
