Ryan Farquhar again topped the timesheets in last night's Lightweight practice session at the TT, increasing his speed to 117.432mph, and the KMR Kawasaki ace is expecting the lap record to go in next Friday's race.
"Everything's really good with the Twin. I had a few wee issues at the North West 200 with the bike getting slower as the race wore on so I rebuilt the engine and it felt good right from the very first night,” said the Dungannon man.
“I did a 117mph lap then and towed Gary Johnson round for a couple of laps so last night, I looked around to see where everyone else was and waited until I went out. On the one hand, it helped as I did the lap on my own with no-one near me but, on the other, I encountered a bit of slower traffic."
"I tried hard and I'm sure James Hillier's lap record of 119.1 will go in the race. He'll go well again as will Lee Johnston, Jamie Hamilton and Gary. I've got Ivan Lintin starting ten seconds behind me and we all know how competitive he is on a Twin. I can't afford to be hanging around."
Farquhar is also having his first big bike outings on the Mountain Course since 2012 and lapped at 126.568mph in the Superbike class last night to place 11th on the leaderboard. The 39-year old admits its very much work in progress on the 1000cc machines.
"The Lightweight class is my undoubted priority but getting out on the big bikes gives me a lot more track time and although they're hard work, I'm enjoying it. I was pleased with last night's speed and I'm confident of adding a couple more mph on to it come race day.
“The Superbike was brand new at the North West and I've had very little time on it so not only am I trying to get used to the bike, I'm also trying to get used to the big bike around the course. Three years away is a long length of time and you can only build up your speed gradually."
