Tyco BMW’s Ian Hutchinson ripped up the Superstock timesheets in Isle of Man TT practice this evening, blowing through the 130mph barrier with a 130.745mph lap - faster than he managed this evening on his Superbike.
Hutchinson was second quickest on the Superbike timesheet with a 130.691mph but then went out on the Stocker and went quicker. He is still a little slower than his laptime from last year on the Kawasaki, a 130.924 while Michael Dunlop’s Superstock lap record of 131.220 - set in 2013 - is still in the distance.
Fellow BMW man Michael Rutter, who is running in Bathams/SMT colours, was second on a 129.204 while Michael Dunlop got two standing-start laps on his Stock BMW but set a 128.850 with his second. GBmoto’s Peter Hickman is another man faster on the Stock bike than the Superbike but the Kawasaki man is making his Superbike debut this year and has two years’ experience in the more road-biased class. He set a 127.738 for fourth fastest, just ahead of James Hillier’s 127.736.
Gary Johnson took his Penz13.com BMW to a 127.014 with Conor Cummins next along on the Valvoline by Padgett’s Honda setting a 126.967. Steve Mercer set a 126.758 for eighth. John McGuinness was ninth with Lee Johnston tenth.
