TT 2022: 'No goals or expectations' for Todd

As expected, Davey Todd is already shown to be one of the form men at the Isle of Man TT Races with the Milenco by Padgetts Honda the third quickest rider after two nights of practice.

Quickest in Sunday afternoon’s opening session at 127.492mph, the 26-year old upped his pace to 129.583mph on Monday evening with his fastest time actually coming on his Superstock mount, the bike on which he’s been excelling in the Pirelli National Superstock Championship.

But Todd, in his third year of competition around the Mountain Course, is enjoying every single bike he’s on and has set himself no targets for this year’s event other than to continue learning the rigours and challenges posed by the 37.73-mile circuit.

“I’m feeling really good but, in all honesty, I have no goals or expectations this fortnight other than to enjoy myself,” he told bikesportnews. com. “I’m having so much fun on the bikes and I just feel like I’m riding round at the moment. Clive (Padgett) keeps telling me to enjoy myself and that’s what I’m doing.”

Having joined the team for the 2021 season, Todd has started this year in superb fashion on both the roads, where he took no less than four second place finishes at the North West 200, and the circuits where he’s recorded three straight podiums, including a close second place last time at Donington Park, in the Superstock series.

“Everything’s been going really well and the team are providing me with awesome bikes to ride, bikes that are so dialled in. They give me everything I want and more and that makes it a lot easier for me. I can just focus on my riding and that’s what I want to do here at the TT.

“Like I say, there are no expectations from anyone and no pressure so I want to keep learning, keep improving and keep riding within myself. It’s only my third year so there’s areas and opportunities to learn all around the course so I’ll keep the same approach for each session.

“It helps having such a great atmosphere in the team and it really is one big family. Anyone who’s ever ridden for the Padgetts team will tell you the same and I’m just loving my time here.”
