TT 21011: Farquhar's race week hangs in balance

Ryan Farquhar's 2011 Isle of Man TT campaign hangs in the balance after suffering a spill at Keppel Gate in the final practice session on Friday evening.

The KMR Kawasaki rider fell off his Superbike machine on the third lap and although he suffered no broken bones he was helicoptered to hospital for an initial check up and was due to be kept under observation for a second night on Saturday.

Suffering from suspected broken ribs and heavy bruising to his back and backside, the Dungannon rider is hoping to be released from hospital on Sunday. If passed fit by the medics, he's planning to ride in Monday's Superstock race.

It had been a troubled week for the double TT winner and multiple Irish champion with numerous bike issues seeing him unable to complete many laps and off the front running pace he'd become accustomed to. His fastest lap of practice week, 125.728mph, came the lap before he crashed.
