TT bosses have today confirmed they intend to speak to Dorna over the proposed date for the 2010 MotoGP round at Silverstone as it clashes with the first race weekend of next year's festival.
The provisional timetable, which was released earlier yesterday, confirms that the British leg of the series, currently scheduled for Sunday, 6th June, 2010 at Silverstone, will clash with the TT Superbike race on the Isle of Man, which will take place during the same weekend on Saturday 5th June.
“This is only a provisional timetable but we don’t want fans to be forced to choose between two hugely popular events. We will work with Dorna to try to resolve this in everyone’s best interests," said Martyn Quayle, Minster for Tourism and Leisure.
Although the date clash doesn’t affect likely participating teams and riders, the request is being made following comments from fans and leading figures from the motorcycling industry who may be forced to choose between two of the most prestigious dates on the UK’s motorcycling calendar.
Practices and qualifying for the 2010 TT Races runs from Saturday 29th May to Friday 4th June with a week of races scheduled to start on Saturday 5th June to Saturday 12 June.
