Ulster Grand Prix: Michael Dunlop takes Superstock pole with 132mph lap

Michael Dunlop set the fastest lap of the week so far at Dundrod when he topped the Ulster GP Superstock qualifying session with a lap of 132.021mph. The McAdoo Racing rider comfortably took pole position for Saturday's race and was over three seconds clear of nearest rival Bruce Anstey who posted a best lap of 129.919mph.

It was Guy Martin who led initially before being upstaged firstly by Stephen Thompson and then by Dunlop who lapped at 130.315mph midway through the session. He continually got quicker on the Kawasaki ZX-10R and although Anstey got to within a second of him at one stage, the youngster firstly broke the 131mph barrier and then the 132mph mark to comfortably take the top spot.

Anstey was safe in second and although surprise man Rob Barber held onto third with ten minutes to go, it was ultimately Martin and Thompson who completed the front row with 128mph+ laps. Ian Lougher and Barber also went above 128mph to take fifth and sixth with Conor Cummins and rapid newcomer Dean Harrison completing the second row. Fellow rookie Lee Johnston took ninth on the Ducati Panigale and he was closely followed by William Dunlop, Dan Kneen and Adrian Archibald.
