Guim Roda believes that Axel Bassani could get a podium in the second half of the 2024 World Superbike season.
The 2024 World Superbike Championship is in the second half of the season. One of the bigger moves for the 2024 season was Axel Bassani switching from Motocorsa Ducati to the Kawasaki Racing Team.
Bassani's season did not start in the best way as he struggled to get to grips with the Kawasaki. The Italian rider is now 13th in the Championship with 59 points after seven rounds of the season. Bassani's best result in the 2024 season has been seventh place at Misano.
There have been steady improvements for Bassani throughout the year. But the Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK Team Principal, Guim Roda, told WorldSBK.com that there is more to come from Bassani in 2024.
“A realistic goal for Axel could be a podium, why not? He’s showing more speed step-by-step. He has the capacity to go fast but still needs to learn when and how.
"He’s on the way with many races to go and when the temperatures cool down, we have a little bit more possibility to go. When we lose the grip in the tyre, we can’t extract the most from the bike because you lose grip when turning so then it’s difficult to take profit of the engine power.
"With good grip conditions, we can extract all the potential of the chassis and the bike and why not, in the next rounds, make another step and be closer."
Bassani will remain with the KRT squad as they begin a new chapter with Bimota in 2025. Roda also discussed the 2025 WorldSBK season for the Bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team.
"The bike is not going to be green! It will be a nice machine to ride with and I’m sure the fans will really enjoy this challenge that Kawasaki have decided to take. To bring a new brand to the Championship and be focused with the Superbike but I can’t explain too much more than this."
