Czech Republic rider Abraham will join Josh Brookes in the new Milwaukee BMW team to make his debut in World Superbikes next season.
The ex-MotoGP man has never ridden a Superbike before but that isn’t fazing him. He comes to World Superbikes as a MotoGP points scorer and Moto2 race winner.
“I am looking forward to it. It will be a new experienced but I don’t think it is going to be any more relaxed. I have been in MotoGP for five years but in the last couple of years it has been more and more difficult to get a bike that would be good enough and it will be harder in the future so I decided to look around for something else,” said Abraham, speaking to Bikesport News on his way to Reunion Island.
“I am really glad I talked to Shaun as this is a really good opportunity for me to be at the front. I have no experience of Superbikes at all, I haven’t even sat on one but I have seen it, standing by it. It will be an exciting time. I understand Josh is a pretty laid back guy so I think he will be a lot of help at the start of the season. He has a lot of experience and I look forward to meeting him.
“Some of the tracks will be new to me, including Thailand, Magny-Cours, two of the Italian ones. Lausitzring will be kind of new, although I rode there about 14 years ago. “
