"It would be a dream to start the new project with a win... a more realistic target is to be fighting for the top five."
This weekend is Bimota's first race weekend back in World Superbikes with Alex Lowes and Axel Bassani.
The bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team has been a surprise throughout the 2025 pre-season due to their competitiveness.
Lowes explained his feelings ahead of his first race weekend as a bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team rider.
"I am really excited to start this new chapter after we spent many years in green," Lowes told WorldSBK.com.
"It is not completely new because it is me and also the team that has changed. We are getting used to the new colours, and we are excited about the new challenge ahead. I feel that everybody inside the team has a lot of motivation."
After switching from the Kawasaki ZX-10RR to the KB998 Rimini, Lowes explained what it is like to ride his new machine.
"The KB998 Rimini is a fantastic bike, I have enjoyed riding it from the first test in the winter," Lowes explained.
"Honestly, we did not have fantastic weather over in Europe for testing so we did not get too many laps. But the Monday and Tuesday tests at Phillip Island went well.
"It has been really enjoyable to ride, some parts of the bike are really strong, but there are some parts of the bike that we are still trying to improve, which is completely normal for such a new motorbike. It has gone good so far."
When asked if he could repeat Anthony Gobert's famous win with Bimota at Phillip Island Lowes kept his goals realistic but claimed that a race win would be a 'dream'.
"It would be a dream to start the new project with a win, but we have to be careful not to expect too much," the British rider stated.
"Last year, arguably, this track was the strongest track for the Kawasaki and we took advantage of that. This year it is not the same bike, but you never know, in the test, I felt good, but the race weekend is always different.
"Honestly, I don't feel miles and miles away, it is not impossible, but a more realistic target is to be fighting for the top five or six positions. Then we will see in the race if something more is possible, we have some great memories from last year so let's see."
