Alstare Suzuki have this morning issued a further statement about their position concerning the 2012 World Superbike Championship, saying they are still in talks with Suzuki and that some existing sponsors have expressed an interest in backing a Superbike and Supersport team.

The statement reads:

The discussions between Alstare and Suzuki are ongoing and currently Alstare are talking to sponsors with regard to a suitable budget for 2011. Many of Alstare’s traditional sponsors have already expressed their desire to remain with the team next year, even though the final set-up is yet to be agreed.

At the moment, the talks are also exploring the possibility of running one bike in both Superbike and Supersport classes, but this will of course depend on the final budget. The rider line-up will be determined once everything is in place.
