Francis Batta's Alstare team will not continue to run the factory Ducati World Superbike effort in 2014 and end their relationship halfway through a two-year deal.
The team has struggled with poor results all year and Carlos Checa's injury problems have been the icing on the poo-cake for the Belgium-based outfit. It is thought that Batta has done a deal to run Aprilias while Chaz Davies' current team, which has been operating the factory BMW effort, will take over the Ducati reins.
"I am very sad at this time because the challenge began last November and was an important stimulus for me to start again after the stop of one year," said Batta.
"Working with Ducati has impressed me and it was a wonderful experience, even though, unfortunately, this year the results have not arrived. Tackling 2013 has been a huge effort for me and not having a solid foundation for 2014 rather not take risks that could affect the ability to move forward throughout the season. I thank Ducati for the confidence you gave me, and I wish the red Borgo Panigale to return soon to the success they deserve."
