An update has been given on Aron Canet's future

Gold & Goose

Aron Canet's manager is hoping to have a deal signed for the Spaniard by the Austrian Grand Prix in two weeks.

Aron Canet's future is still up in the air in the middle of the MotoGP summer break, as the Spaniard could stay in Moto2 or move to World Superbikes.

There have been several options reported for Canet in the World Superbike paddock, as he has been linked with several factory teams.

The Spaniard could replace his fellow Spaniard, Alvaro Bautista, in the factory Aruba.it Racing - Ducati squad next season after the two-time Champion was notified that he would not remain with the Italian team.

Another possibility in the World Superbike paddock is the factory ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team, as a successor to either the MotoGP-bound Toprak Razgatlioglu or Michael van der Mark.

However, it is known that both contracts from the factory World Superbike teams are only one-year deals. But no MotoGP manufacturer has shown any interest in Canet for the 2026 season, so a move to World Superbikes would be the best for his future.

Aron Canet's manager, Bob Moore, told Speedweek.com: "We're still working on Aron's deal for 2026. We hope to know more by the Spielberg weekend. It's certainly an exciting phase."

After 12 rounds of the 2025 Moto2 World Championship, Canet finds himself in second place in the standings for the Fantic Racing Lino Sonego squad.

The 25-year-old has won a race in the opening 12 Grand Prix, has featured on four further podiums, and has amassed a total of 163 points.
