A silly error by former World Superbike rider Jules Cluzel cost Scotland’s Kev Coghlan his first World Supersport win today at Motorland Aragon.
The Frenchman nerfed Coghlan and himself off when he messed up his braking marker at the end of the back straight and instead of letting off and riding wide, he ploughed straight into the back of Coghlan’s Yamaha and the pair went down.
Both Coghlan and Cluzel were clear of the scrap for third between three-time champion Kenan Sofuoglu and Michael Van Der Mark, who eventually went into take first and second respectively with Florian Marino in third. Coghlan re-mounted to finish in fifth.
Jack Kennedy dropped down the order after running into the gravel to eventually cross the line in 11th while Frazer Rogers finished in 18th.
Cluzel is now under investigation by race control for the incident.
