Scotland’s Kevin Coghlan has bagged his first-ever World Supersport pole position at Motorland Aragon today, fending off a challenge from former MCE British Superbike rider PJ Jacobsen while title favourite Kenan Sofuoglu languished in sixth.
Coghlan, who is riding for the DNC Yamaha squad, lapped in 2’01.662 compared to Jacobsen’s 2’01.800 but the New Yorker had a tumble at the end of the session which prevented another run at Coghlan’s time after the Yamaha rider toppled him after five minutes of the session.
Phillip Island victor Jules Cluzel rounds out the front row and was only 0.009 slower than Jacobsen with Florian Marino and Michael Van Der Mark joining Sofuoglu’s Kawasaki on row two.
CIA Honda’s Jack Kennedy, who is riding with a broken ankle, ended in 13th place while Fraser Rogers continues to struggle in 23rd place.
