BMW's Troy Corser has suffered a broken left forearm in a crash during the second World Superbike race at Motorland Aragon today and will fly back to England as soon as possible to seek further treatment.

The veteran Aussie was in a collision with the Supersonic Ducati of Maxine Berger but says the incident was entirely his own fault as he was off-track and Berger had nowhere to go. Corser was X-rayed at the circuit medical centre where he was diagnosed with broken radius and ulna bones.

"It hasn’t been a great weekend for me by any means. Our poor grid position meant a lot of hard work and that’s not easy to do when your bike is not working as well as you want it to. It was actually a bit better today than the previous two days, though I felt that I didn’t have much grip in race one and the bike was sliding about at a very early stage. I was happy with my start in race one but, as the race wore on, I didn’t pass too many people. I did though, have a good battle with my team mate. Leon and I touched three or four times, but it was all fair and nothing dangerous," said Corser.

"I didn’t even get to complete one lap of race two. I overshot the hairpin at the end of the back straight, but when I turned the bike and headed towards the track again I was hit by Berger. He had also overshot the corner and I was in his way! I think it was my fault, because if had have been in my normal place on the track, I wouldn’t have been hit. His bike hit my left arm and that’s what did the damage.

"I knew I’d hurt myself and X-rays confirmed that I had broken both bones (ulna and radius) in my left arm. Both breaks are clean breaks, so I am pretty lucky, if I can say that! Considering the crash, I could’ve done a lot more damage to myself. I will see my specialist as soon as I can and find out what has to be done to my arm. He’ll let me know what the best course of action is and I’ll go from there. Obviously I want to race in the next round in Brno in three weeks, but I’ll have see how it all works out."
