Aragon WSBK: Melandri confident of fitness

Goldbet BMW's Marco Melandri is confident his shoulder will hold up over this weekend's Motorland Aragon World Superbike clash.

The Italian title contender underwent final surgery on the shoulder he injured at the end of last season and says he is no longer in pain, just lacking a little resilience. He and team-mate Chaz Davies tested at Jerez last week with Melandri reporting a much better feeling in the injured joint.

“I am looking forward to be in Aragón. I am very optimistic. For sure it will not be an easy race, but I am confident that I have fixed the shoulder problems I suffered from. I don’t feel hindered anymore when riding, even if I am still lacking resilience. We worked a lot after the Australian round in order to close the gap to Aprilia and we have done a very good job," he said.

"I like Aragón; it is a great track. It is a very technical and fast circuit. It will be the ideal venue to verify the work we have done. My only wish is that we finally will have good weather.”
