Stiggy Honda's Leon Haslam will take his 2009 debut front row start for both of the Assen World Superbike races tomorrow ending what has been a torrid couple of days' practice for the Italy-based team.
Team-mate John Hopkins disclocated his hip and cracked his femur in a crash yesterday and is heading home to the States for treatment. In today's Superpole session, Haslam used some last-minute setup changes to seize third place.
"I feel very comfortable with the improvements we made to the race set-up by the end of the free practice session. We managed to get through the first Superpole qualifying on a race tyre, and got through the second one using just one of the qualifiers, which put me in a good position for the last session," said Haslam.
"I made a few mistakes, and we do have some small things to work on tomorrow in the warm-up, but I am certainly happy with the progression we have made so far."
