Assen WSBK: Iddon tops Supersport free practice

ParkinGo MV Agusta Corse rider Christian Iddon topped the World Supersport free practice this morning at Assen, with a last lap dash in the dying minutes of the 45 minute opening session.

The Brit was one of the first riders out on the track, and remained consistent throughout, but it was on his thirteenth and final lap that the Stockport native set the fastest lap of 1’50.434.

It was fast and frenzied practice session, especially in the last five minutes, when the British riders decided to come out in force. Yakhnich Motorsport’s Sam Lowes had a steady start to the session, but did manage to clock the fastest time on his fifth lap, with 18 minutes remaining, but he could not retain the pace and ended the session in third, with a time of 1’50.739. Team Goeleven rider Andrea Antonelli was on the pace during the final minutes of the session, and pipped Lowes to second with a time of 1'50.652.

Rivamoto rider, Dubliner Jack Kennedy ended the practice laps in twelfth overall on board his Honda CBR600RR, with a respectable  time of 1’53.848.

Reigning World Supersport Champion MAHI Racing Team India’s Kenan Sofuoglu was way down on the time sheets, and could only manage a lap time of 1'59.353, and finished the session outside the top twenty.
