Assen WSBK: ‘Perfect day’ for Iddon

ParkinGO MV Agusta Corse rider Christian Iddon excelled in the wet conditions at Assen today, and even topped this morning’s World Supersport free practice session. But the Brit was cruelly denied provisional pole when Goeleven rider Andrea Antonelli ended up setting the fastest lap time in the final session of the day during a last-lap dash in the dying seconds of the qualifying practice session.

The Stockport lad is hoping for more success tomorrow, and has already won a race at the Dutch circuit, as last year he claimed his maiden victory at Assen in the British Supersport championship.

“It has been almost a perfect day. In free practice with the track half dry and then wet I found my ideal conditions and I have to say I had a good feeling with the bike, and in my favourite track conditions. In the afternoon we went step by step and I was there for a bit of the time," said the Briton.

“First position got taken away at the last minute but it’s not important. Last year I won here in a dry race, and I know I am comfortable in all conditions and that’s very important for me."
