Yamaha Racing's Cal Crutchlow has taken pole position for tomorrow's World Supersport race at Assen, finishing half a second in front of Kawasaki's Joan Lascorz with Ireland's Eugene Laverty on the outside of the front row.
Crutchlow was stranded in 10th place for a good 15 minutes after the session started but after an extended stop in the pits, he immediately came out and set a lap of 1'40.968 and then followed it up with 1'40.662.
This was already good enough to take top spot on the timesheets but the former HM Plant Honda man then put in a 1'40.313 on his final lap to cement his position, leaving Lascorz on a 1'40.848, also set in the dying seconds.
Parkalgar Honda's Laverty starts with former champion Kenan Sofuoglu alongside him after being second in the early part of the session and then getting bumped down to fifth before coming back to the front row with ten minutes left.
