Axel Bassani is capitalising on an impressive rookie season in WorldSBK by signing again with Motocross Ducati for 2022.
Completing his first year in the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship ninth overall, Bassani was a revelation on the satellite Ducati as his growing confidence brought flashes of brilliance. Completing 24 of the 37 races inside the top 10, the 22-year-old Italian secured his maiden podium at Barcelona before challenging repeatedly in the top five as the season drew to a close despite being the youngest rider on the grid.
His brief time with the Motocross squad has already delivered second in the Independent Rider standings with both team and rider hoping for more next time around.
“I am happy with the renewal and to be able to continue the work with the Motocorsa Racing team with which I found myself very well,” Bassani explained. “I think it is very positive for our growth path; we have already started working towards 2022 and I hope to confirm and improve last season’s results.
