Alvaro Bautista was injured at Magny-Cours in France, but he has been declared fit for Friday track action at Cremona.
The World Superbike paddock rolls up to the Cremona Circuit for the first time this weekend. The Italian World Superbike Round will not feature Toprak Razgatlioglu and Jonathan Rea on the grid.
However, Alvaro Bautista will venture out on track on Friday after being declared fit for track action. The Spanish rider will be reassessed on Friday after Free Practice One. The #1 fractured the eighth rib on his left side at Magny-Cours, but he will attempt to ride at Cremona.
Giving his immediate reaction, Bautista said: “I’m fit for FP1! After that, we’ll have to see. I have to check my condition and how I can ride the bike. I can start in FP1 – good news!”
With Razgatlioglu missing from the racing this weekend it is a perfect opportunity for Ducati. Nicolo Bulega is 55 points behind Razgatlioglu, a gap that he can close this weekend if he does the triple. With Bautista on track, the Spaniard could help Bulega claim the Championship lead.
