Oli Bayliss was taken to Portimao hospital on Tuesday after breaking his ankle during the opening day of his WorldSSP career.
The Australian had recently flown to Europe to begin his World Supersport preparation with the Barni Ducati team. Two days of testing on the Panigale V2 had been scheduled for this week at the Algarve International Circuit, however a turn five crash during the first morning on track called time early for Bayliss.
Scans revealed the 18-year-old had fractured the lateral malleolus of his right ankle with Italian CIV rider Nicholas Spinelli taking over the development work for Wednesday. The team is hoping successful recovery will see Bayliss back in action at Misano World Circuit - Marco Simoncelli on March 16th.
