Three-times World Superbike Champion Troy Bayliss didn't have it his own way during Sunday's Race of Champions at Wembley Stadium – spinning out in his heat and not winning.
The affable Aussie was pitched against Sebastien someoneororother, who ponces about at the back in an F1 car at the weekend, but just lost control of his RX150 buggy on a very slippery track. Which Olympic cyclist Chris Hoy couldn't pushbike on either, for the same reason. Or was it because he was due in a warm BBC studio to pick up the Sports 'Personality' Of The Year.
Bayliss was only seen once on track, by us at any rate as we were slightly distracted, and lobbed his buggy in the grass, to which he probably said: "Ah, fuck it."
The whole shebang was won by squillion-times World Rally Champion Sebastien Loeb, beating Buzz Lightyear, erm David Coulthard, who came second for the first time in about 10 years. It was Lightyear's first time on a podium since he decided he could fly without the aid of a team-mate...
But the entire event was cheered up by the fact that Michael Chinmacher didn't win it and that www.bikesportnews.com didn't have to put up with any jumped-up F1 types whatsoever or actually anyone they knew.
We did have a chat with former kids TV star Gareth Jones (the one and only Gazzzzzz Topppppp who you may remember from such shows as Get Fresh), who was very nice. And knows his shit.
Go to sniffpetrol.com to hear his excellent ramblings. And pay no attention to the nonsense Richard Porter writes on there. Because it only encourages him.
