Brands BSB: Byrne fastest in final practice

Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki rider Shane Byrne proved he was the one to beat after he finished top of the time-sheets in the final MCE British Superbike free practice session of the day. The reigning triple champion clocked a lap time of 46’166, making him the fastest bike out on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit this morning.

Close on his tail was young Lincolnshire rider Samsung Honda’s Alex Lowes, who had a solid free practice and was not out of the top three for the entire session, and set a fast lap time of 46'312. Milwaukee Yamaha’s James Ellison is obviously enjoying his return to BSB and finished the session in third with a time of 46’446.

Aussie rider Josh Brookes onboard his Tyco Suzuki machine had a consistent session, and finished in fourth. But veteran racer Karl Harris was on fire, he finished the session just inside the top five, proving that the PR Racing Kawasaki rider mean business at Brands this weekend.

The final free practice was not without drama, with less that seven minutes left to the session there was a red flag, when Rapido Sport Racing Ducati’s Matteo Baiocco fell at Clearways. The rider was not seriously hurt and the session continued.
