Brno WorldSBK test: Rea explores chassis balance ideas

Reigning WorldSBK champ and series leader Jonathan Rea spent two days at the Brno test exploring chassis balance ideas on the ZX-10RR to further negate the rev limit disadvantage placed on Kawasaki at the start of the year.

The Isle of Man resident has been able to dial in more corner speed with a different spec of engine but the year has been a lot harder than previous, so Rea is now looking for more pace through and out of turns.

“It’s been really positive to test in Brno especially because we haven’t raced here since 2012. It’s one of my favourite circuits so it was easy to keep my motivation high after these busy few weeks," said Rea.

"The weather has been quite different on both days so it was good to understand how the bike behaves in both hot and cool conditions. Without the pressure of the race weekend we were able to work calmly each day and explore some different setup and chassis balance ideas.

"Each time we changed the bike we had some positive and some less positive feelings, so we will keep working on that side of things. I want to thank all the Kawasaki Racing staff and Hospitality crew who have been working full gas these past three weeks. Also a special shout out to my mechanics, because I kept them really busy making a lot of changes.”
