Step Honda's Gino Rea has bagged his first ever World Supersport win this afternoon at Brno, fending off veteran Fabien Foret and a late charge from series leader Chaz Davies until a crash by Robbin Harms brought out the red flag.
Londoner Rea took the lead from the Ten Kate man with 13 laps to go and managed the race from the front while Davies had to come past Sam Lowes and David Salom to net the final podium spot.
The Welshman increases his series lead over Broc Parkes after the Australian crashed out of the race with only a handful of laps gone, losing the front of his Motocard Kawasaki.
Rea got the holeshot with what looked like, but turned out not to be, a jump start but was passed by Frenchman Foret. He wasn't taking it lying down and was back past at the first opportunity and did't give Foret another chance to re-pass. The race was called a result with two to go when Harms lobbed his CBR600 at the signage and it caught fire.
Lowes was in the hunt early on but couldn't live with the front-runners' pace. He eventually slipped back to sixth with Luca Scassa seventh and James Ellison finishing in eighth.
Championship points:
Chaz Davies 121
Broc Parkes 85
Fabien Foret 85
David Salom 84
Luca Scassa 79
