Crocked World Supersport star Jack Kennedy reckons his broken ankle won’t cause him any problems at the upcoming Aragon World Superbike round as it only causes pain while undergoing physiotherapy.
The young Irishman underwent surgery in Australia following a crash at Phillip Island which resulted in a broken thalus bone in his ankle. He raced but was forced out with a blown motor.
"My recovery is a bit slower than I had hoped and my physiotherapy is actually very painful. I think it is because the bone I broke is the main ankle bone. In 2006 I broke my tibia, fibula and ankle of the same leg and had plates and screws removed one year later,” said Kennedy.
“After the crash at Phillip Island I had the option of having surgery and recover quickly or not have surgery and take a much longer recovery. Two screws were fitted through my ankle this time.
“I’m back at the gym, and training in the pool as well. I feel well physically and I don't think the ankle will give me any trouble at Aragon. I am already walking unaided – no crutches and no cast. I'm only in lots of pain when I have physio, so much so that I have to take painkillers afterwards.”
