Buriram WSBK: Sector-three pace the focus for Davies

Aruba Ducati’s Chaz Davies says he needs to find a couple of tenths through Buriram’s third sector to being him to the pace of the leading Kawasakis at Thailand’s WorldSBK round.

Davies is losing two-tenths through that part of the track - which comprises three corners at which Davies is lacking confidence - and is 11th fastest. The Welshman takes 21.919s to complete the sector while fastest Jonathan Rea goes through in 21.707. However, Tom Sykes is also having similar problems and is only fractionally quicker than Davies.

“We have been working slowly on our programme, mostly trying to get our bike in the ballpark with the front end. I was lacking a little bit of confidence this morning in a couple of areas and we have improved that this afternoon as well as taking a good step during the session,” said Davies, speaking at the track.

“We are strong in a few areas but I can easily identify where we are a bit weak. We need to improve our third sector a little bit, we are losing a few tenths there. There isn’t one corner that feels good through there, it’s made up of three and all of them feel like the bike isn’t working particularly well. Our pace is quite competitive nonetheless. I did my best lap on used tyres this afternoon, so overall it’s been a good first day.”
