Voltcom Suzuki’s Alex Lowes will not be getting carried away with testing results after the upcoming Portimao outing as he realised last year that it didn’t set him as well as he had hoped for the 2014 World Superbike season.
The former MCE British Superbike Champion was fast out of the blocks this time last year but it didn’t translate into a perfect season, something that he is now well aware of.
I’m really looking forward to going testing. We had a great end to last year so my confidence is good. It’s been a nice, steady winter - training and preparing - but I’ve missed riding my bike so I’m ready to get back out on track,” said Lowes.
“Portimao and Jerez are good circuits, both for me and for the Suzuki GSX-R, and are great fun to ride. I don’t want to get too carried away in testing, we went very well last year but it didn’t set me up well for the opening race, so I’m definitely a lot calmer now!
“I’ve been thinking about a number of things over the winter so I’m just looking forward to getting back out there, working hard and putting them into practise. We have a number of items to test but my main focus is myself, and making sure I’m up-to-speed, calm and ready to start the season strongly for the first race at Phillip Island.”
