Althea Ducati's Carlos Checa has set the unofficial fastest time at the Misano World Superbike test today, lapping in 1'34.8 on a qualifier and taking the Superbike lap record away from Troy Corser who set it last year with a 1'35.001.
Yesterday and today in hot conditions similar to last weekend’s race conditions at Monza (with track temperatures of over 40•C), the Spanish rider was out on track and completed a total of 140 laps over the sessions. The team concentrated on the set up of the bike with a view to the upcoming race, testing various settings and trying different tyre solutions.
"We have worked well, concentrating on both chassis settings and electronics, as well as on the tyres of course. We have found a good set-up for the Misano race and have also identified a few things that could be useful at Miller too. This morning the track conditions were good and I was able to lap very fast with a qualifier," said Checa.
"Then this afternoon, although the track was slower, I found good rhythm with the race tyre. Let’s say I’m satisfied. I’ve got good sensation back again; after Monza, a really difficult round for me, I’m happy to have been able to come here and be competitive once again. I’m very pleased.”
