Gold & Goose

The WorldWCR Championship got underway at Assen, and British rider Chloe Jones made her mark in the season opener.

Chloe Jones and GR Motosport competed in their first race weekend of the 2025 FIM Women's Circuit Racing World Championship (WorldWCR).

The British rider has prior experience in the class as she wildcarded in the final races of the 2024 season at Jerez. During which she finished in sixth place in Race One and Race Two, securing 20 points across her debut weekend.

This season is a different challenge for Jones and GR Motosport as they have entered the series full-time. The opening round of the season took place at the TT Circuit Assen and saw Jones fighting at the front.

The 21-year-old ended the opening round of the season with sixth and seventh place in Race One and Two. Jones now sits sixth in the WorldWCR Championship, equal on points with fifth place, after a promising opening round.

Daventry resident Chloe Jones - "My first weekend as a full-time WorldWCR rider is complete, and even racing at the iconic Cathedral of Speed, TT Circuit Assen, is a dream come true.

"To race with the best women in the world, and I can say that to come away with a P6 and P7, it wasn’t a bad weekend at all.

"I learnt a lot riding the GR Motosport Yamaha R7 this weekend, and we are working well as a team - their support is helping me be the best I can on the day, and I can’t wait to put it all into practice at Cremona in 3 weeks' time!

"To be sitting joint P5 in the Championship after Round One, I can say it feels great!"

Brent Gladwin, GR Motosport Managing Director - “Seeing Chloe out at Assen in GR’s traditional Black and Orange was special with the added bonus of the Dutch fans loving it too.

"The World Superbike paddock is quite daunting for a young rider, but the experience of my team, Danny, DK, and Clare, helped Chloe settle in really quickly. Free Practice and qualifying, although with some challenges, went well, taking 7th on the grid.

"Chloe’s first race was mega, where her times would have challenged in qualifying, and she settled in and did what we asked to take 6th.

"Race Two was hard, going to the grid on wets in the rain, and having to change to slicks on the grid. A good start and a mistake settled our place for 7th.

"Chloe showed her pace and the team had fun and we are 6th in the standings going to Italy - I love it."
