CONFUSION OVER PARKALGAR AND TEN KATE ENGINE PARTS

Speculation over whether the Parkalgar and Ten Kate Honda World Supersport teams used an illegal pump system at the Qatar round has been laid to rest by the Louth-based team.

Neither of the squads used the system, which removes compressed air from the crankcases, during the Losail race but it was used during testing in the winter under FIM rules for 2008 which deemed it legal. Apparently, the teams were protested by another team in World Supersport.

A source inside the Parkalgar squad said the system had been run in testing but has not been used in races because the 2009 rules now stipulate that the pump is illegal. He also stated that was the case for Ten Kate Honda.

Parkalgar Honda team boss Simon Buckmaster said: "Our bikes were stripped and checked for these items post race at Qatar and passed with flying colours. I really think the team in question should spend more time concentrating on its own performance and professionalism rather than trying to stir up trouble. It’s simply sour grapes."
