Danilo Petrucci: "I would like to continue with Barni, I hope to announce my future soon"

Gold and Goose

Ahead of the Portuguese World Superbike round, Danilo Petrucci discussed his plans for the 2025 season.

Danilo Petrucci arrived in World Superbikes in 2023 with the Barni Spark Racing Team. Since joining the team Petrucci has taken part in 51 races with them and has stood on the podium five times.

The Italian's contract runs out at the end of the 2024 season and has previously said that he would like Alvaro Bautista's seat if he retires. However, it now seems Petrucci is aiming to stay with his current Barni Spark Racing Team.

"I think everything will remain like this," Petrucci told WorldSBK.com ahead of the Portuguese World Superbike round. "On my side, I need to wait for Alvaro's decision.

"I have more or less the same bike so I would like to continue with Barni, I think this will be the solution for the future. We have the potential to win races if we put everything together. I hope to announce my future soon."

Looking ahead to this weekend Petrucci is looking forward to riding around Portimao once again. Last season the 33-year-old struggled around the 'rollercoaster', but has more hope this season after the winter test earlier in the year.

"Portimao is a track I like a lot. But last year I was not able to be really fast, in the test this winter it was ok. For sure the new time schedule for this race will be something different, and I think it will be surprising. Because at the end it will be really, really hot and with this kind of temperature managing the tyre will be the key for the race. There will be not a lot of grip because of the heat, but we will have to see our speed because at previous rounds we have fought for the top five and I want to continue like this."
