Danilo Petrucci will have to miss his first test with BMW due to his recent hand surgery ahead of the season finale.
After undergoing surgery on Monday, Danilo Petrucci was declared unfit for the final round of the 2025 World Superbike Championship and his final races with the Barni Spark Racing Team.
The Italian rider will move to the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team for the 2026 World Superbike season and will switch to the BMW M1000RR next year.
It was expected that Petrucci would get his first test with the German manufacturer today (21st of October) at the Jerez World Superbike Test on Tuesday and Wednesday. However, he will not be able to test and will remain on the sidelines.
"I can move the hand, and it is already quite good, but it is not enough to ride the bike," Petrucci told WorldSBK.com on Thursday.
"Last week, with one broken bone without surgery, it was almost impossible. Now it really is impossible to ride the bike, so we decided not to race.
"Also, to cancel the test for next Tuesday, and I will ride, hopefully at 100%, at the end of November here for BMW."
The Italian rider will have to wait over a month before he can experience his new machine for the first time, as he will participate in a Jerez Test, which is scheduled for the 26th and 27th of November.
This second Jerez Test is also when his new teammate, Miguel Oliveira, is first expected to test for the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team.
