Donington announces May date for 2017 World Superbike round

Donington Park has today announced the World Superbike Championship will be coming to town on May 28 and it will be your only chance to see the likes of Jonathan Rea and Chaz Davies go up against the series’ MotoGP exiles Stefan Bradl and Eugene Laverty.

Retaining the now traditional late May race date, the weekend will once more feature two championship points scoring races for the Superbike World Championship, with strong support from the equally exciting championships for World Supersport and Superstock, as well as a number of races from the British national series.

This year’s event saw an attendance increase of 15 per cent over that of 2015, boosted by the presence of so many top British world championship contenders, as well as the circuit’s popular 2016 initiatives including the Entertainment Zones and the all-new Infield Campsite with its superb trackside viewing. Both of these features will return, even further enhanced, in 2017.

“We are delighted to confirm the date for next year’s MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship round at Donington Park. We look forward to once again working closely with Championship owners, Dorna. We are determined to expand our visitor offer, and are committed to further increasing attendances at the event,” said Donington boss Chris Tate.

“In 2017, with a British champion again now confirmed as 2016’s Jonathan Rea from Northern Ireland, and a number of fresh initiatives from Dorna and ourselves, we look forward to once again welcoming significant spectator numbers to Donington Park, for the only UK round of this world class championship.”

Tickets for the UK round of the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship at Donington Park are on sale now, priced from £45 for a weekend general admission entry ticket, or £70 for a camping ticket including weekend general admission. To secure any camping pitch, there is a £20 additional charge. Other ticket options are available on the Donington Park website. For more information visit www.donington-park.co.uk.
