Donington Park WorldSBK: Alvaro Bautista 'without specific expectations' for this weekend

Gold and Goose

Alvaro Bautista turns his attention back to claiming his second WorldSBK title after testing the Ducati Desmosedici GP.

Alvaro Bautista has been dominant throughout the 2023 WorldSBK season. The Ducati rider has won 14 out of the 15 races so far this season. However, WorldSBK is now heading to a track that Bautista has not historically got on with.

Throughout his career Bautista has only won once around Donington Park back in 2006 in the 125cc Grand Prix class. Since the win back in 2006 Bautista has only stood on the podium four times at Donington Park. The Spaniard has never won a Superbike race around Donington Park, something that he will be aiming to change this weekend.

"It's been almost a month since the Misano round, during which we achieved positive results," said Bautista ahead of a return to WorldSBK action.

"In these weeks, I had the opportunity to spend time with my family and train. I also had a lot of fun riding the Desmosedici GP at Misano.

"But now, it's time to focus exclusively on the championship. Donington is a beautiful but challenging track. I'm curious to see how the new asphalt is.

"Our goal is to quickly regain the feeling we had up to this point in the season. We're going without specific expectations but with a strong desire to work and be as competitive as possible."
