Donington WorldSBK: ‘I still have a lot to offer here’ - Camier

MV Agusta’s Leon Camier wants to stay in the WorldSBK paddock next season as he believes he still has a lot to offer.

Camier will be at the top of lot of MCE British Superbike team manager lists at contract time but the Andorra resident wants a chance to show what he can do in WorldSBK whether that be on an improved or new MV, or with a different squad.

"I want to win races and be on the podium consistently - but what is the best option to do that? The way the company is at the moment things are coming good again and things are evolving and if there is a big effort from them and a new bike coming in the future then potentially. But I want progress and make a plan for how to get there,” said Camier, speaking to bikesportnews.com at London’s Sports Bar and Grill.

"I would consider BSB but I still feel I still have a lot to offer in this championship and I want a good crack at it first. I know that with the right opportunity it can happen it’s just trying to find it - that's the hard bit.”

This weekend will see Camier riding in front of his home crowd for the first and only time this season. He is being realistic about his results potential but after a display of pace in the second Imola race, fans may have raised their expectations.

“I’m pretty relaxed to be honest. You have to go into it with realistic expectations and for me  have had a lot of little problems this year which has not let us have smooth weekends.

"It makes it difficult come to be ready to race, a lot of times we have had speed but we have had inconsistency. This weekend we will take it as it comes. It is so difficult with Kawasaki and Ducati at the minute, and Yamaha have made a big step up this year so to sort of be looking to beat them with the small effort that we have makes it difficult to even consider.

“For sure Kawasaki and Ducati are at another level as they are in their own race but between us, Honda, BMW it makes it difficult to sort of know where you are going to be. I always try and be in that second group. Realistically it's not there at the moment to get on the podium.”
