DONINGTON WSB: CRUTCHLOW DEDICATES PODIUM TO JONES

HM Plant Honda's Cal Crutchlow has dedicated his Donington Park World Superbike race two second place to his good friend Craig Jones, who was killed at the Brands Hatch round a month ago.

Crutchlow, who shadowed race winner Ryuichi Kiyonari for the latter part of the race, suffered a quickshifter problem which put him out of race one but his Fireblade ran perfectly for the second outing.

“This result is going to Jonesy – my good mate Craig Jones," said Crutchlow. "Obviously I was disappointed in the first outing with the problem I had, but I so wanted to make amends in race two, which I did. I was confident of catching Kiyo when we were clear of the pack, but as soon as I got close I was getting spray and debris on my visor so it was difficult to close on him to make a pass.

"Discretion is the better part of valour and eventually I decided to stick in second and get a good result for HM Plant Honda and myself. Thanks to the team for all the hard work they put in this weekend."
Tommy Hill rode Jones' Parkalgar Honda World Supersport bike on its final outing earlier in the day, after a minute's silence.
