DONINGTON WSB: CRUTCHLOW SAILS TO ANOTHER WIN

Yamaha World Supersport Team’s Cal Crutchlow took his fourth win of the season extending his championship lead in the World Supersport championship at Donington this weekend in front of his home crowd totalling 61,000.
Despite suffering from injury, in what looked set to be a battle of a race between two or three main riders Crutchlow ended up taking the win by 5.3s.  It was Joan Lascorz of Kawasaki Motocard.com who took the lead going into the first corner ahead of Crutchlow who was closely followed by Eugene Laverty of Parkalgar Honda.
By lap two the three riders had pulled into a trio with a gap of 1.3s, which continued to grow corner by corner, lap by lap.  Not long after setting the fastest lap Laverty crashed out of third as he exited out of the Melbourne loop losing the rear, fortunately not highsiding.
After holding onto the bike, he picked it back and as e tried to move to the side it was shocking to see how close the pack following were as they powered on for the run up to Goddards.  Laverty rejoined and from that moment became the man to watch.
This put Kenan Sofuoglu in third who eventually had to settle fourth come the chequered flag as on lap 11 ParkinGo Triumph BE1 Racing’s Garry McCoy successfully went for that last podium spot.
As Laverty started his position battle Crutchlow took the lead on lap three on the entry to the Foggy Esses and it was at that point the race win was taken.  Even with suffering a huge out of the seat moment on also the exit of Melbourne Loop Crutchlow got his head down.  It was a lonely ride as he increased his lead having no real battle in the race, after pulling away Lascorz had to settle for second in the end.
Laverty gave an astonishing ride with him working back up from 26th position, by lap seven he was already back in the points but continued to finish fifth overall.  This was successful damage limitation regarding points towards his championship in which he currently sits second.
He gave a few hair raising moments the most memorable was when he made an inside move on Barry Venneman of Bazza Racing in which they touched quite hard luckily staying on.  Venneman got ahead but it wasn’t long until Laverty go the best of him to continue on with his charge.
British wildcard rides James Westmoreland of JW Racing finished just outside the top ten in 11th and Hudson Kennaugh of Linxcel-Seton Tuning finished 14th.  It was not a successful race for Michael Laverty of ECHO CRS Grand Prix who has only been with the team for a few rounds with him finishing in 20th.
Kev Coghlan rides for the second time with Holiday Gym Racing he strongly worked his way up through the grid to 13th.  Matej Smrz of MS Racing after running off track at Coppice in the early part of the race walked away with no points after finishing 18th.
