James Ellison's wildcard ride at Donington Park World Superbikes could be under threat from the same injury that forced him to withdraw from today's British Superbike races at Cadwell Park.

Ellison hurt his wrist in a motocross accident in Spain last weekend and despite taking part in qualifying on Sunday, the Cumbrian Hydrex Honda rider was declared medically unfit to race.

Team boss Shaun Muir said: "It was unfortunate for James as he had to sit this weekend out due to the training injury he received last week and hopefully he will be fit for Donington in two weeks' time. We'll assess his progress over the next week before making a decision."
