DONINGTON WSB: FABRIZIO LEADS INTO SUPERPOLE

Xerox Ducati's Michel Fabrizio set the quickest time in this morning's second World Superbike qualifying session at Donington Park and leads team-mate Noriyuki Haga by two-tenths of a second with Ben Spies fractionally slower.

Ten Kate Honda's Jonathan Rea rounds out the provisional front row with Stiggy Honda's Leon Haslam fifth, Sterilgarda's Yamaha's Tom Sykes sixth, Lorenzo Lanzi, who crashed eatly in the session seventh and Gregorio Lavilla eighth, all within half a second of Fabrizio's time.
It was bad news for the British wildcard riders, however, as Airwaves Yamaha's Leon Camier crashed out at Craner Curves with half an hour left in the session. He was ok but only has one bike in full race trim so had to sit out the rest of the session.

Team-mate James Ellison is also struggling for pace as he gets used to the WSB-spec Pirelli tyres, ending second qualifying in 15th place with Camier two places ahead. MSS Colchester Kawasaki's Simon Andrews missed out on Superpole, finishing in 26th. The Evesham man is trying a brand new set of forks and is still working on a base setup.

Sykes was the first man to better his time from yesterday as a drizzly mist began to descend on the Leicestershire track, hauling himself up to second place on the half hour with a 1'30.957 lap at Ryuichi Kiyonari crashed at Goddards.

Spies and Haga spent a good portion of the session swapping laptimes for the lead until Fabrizio came out of his garage and immediately went to second with a 1'30.680.

Rea and Haslam were scrapping for the last place on the front row but it was Rea who got the upper hand, lapping two one-hundredths faster than the Stiggy Honda man. Fabrizio finally went quickest on his last lap with Spies and Haga unable to do anything about the Italian's pace.

Sterilgarda Ducati's Shane Byrne set the tenth fastest time just behind Aprilia's Max Biaggi with Ruben Xaus and a resurgent John Hopkins just ahead of Camier in 12th.
