DONINGTON WSB: FROST FURIOUS AFTER FIRST-LAP CRASH

A wet weekend at Donington Park ended in a first lap crash for Rob Frost who was riding the Buff Racing Triumph in yesterday's World Supersport race.

It was a disappointing end to the day for Frost as the crash was not of his doing but caused by another rider who took his handlebars from him as they went into Coppice corner for the first time.

Free practice and qualifying had all taken place in wet and windy conditions with Frost claiming a fifth row grid position. But morning warm-up saw the county rider at the top of the leader board on a damp track posting lap times faster than the series regulars.

By the time the World Supersport riders formed the starting grid, the rain had ceased and a dry race was declared and as the race began Frosty moved through to take up 15th position. But his time on the track was short-lived as he went into Coppice in the middle of the pack and was caught by another rider who nudged his handlebars and pushed him off into the gravel.

“I am not at all happy with the outcome of today’s race. I was nicely placed in the middle of the field and biding my time before making a move forward when suddenly this out of control rider slid across me and took my handlebar. I ended up in the kitty litter, race over before it really started and nursing a badly grazed arm which needs a skin graft,” said a face-fuzz-free Frost.

Frosty will return to domestic action this weekend when he visits Croft Circuit in North Yorkshire for round 10 of the Fuchs/Silkolene British Supersport championship where he currently holds ninth place in the rider standings.
