DONINGTON WSB: HAMILTON PROVED HE'S GOT THE PACE

Gearlink Kawasaki’s Jamie Hamilton who has taken the British Superbike Metzeler National Superstock 600 support class by storm took his talent to the European Superstock 600 as a wildcard rider at Donington this weekend.
Hamilton scored a point as a wildcard last year at the British World Superbike round at Brands Hatch on a much less competitive bike so this weekend he was excited about the possible results he could achieve with Gearlink and the Kawasaki.
Hamilton said: “This weekend has been a slow and steady start, I expected to be a bit higher, I know I can run with the pace.  We did have a technical problem which caused me to crash, but it’s all sorted now.  I am feeling confident.”
He was aiming for a front two rows qualifying position which he achieved by finishing in eighth.  Hamilton after only three rounds with the team is unexpectedly already leading the British Superstock championship.  Unfortunately whilst chasing a podium position Hamilton low sided at the Foggy Esses putting him out of the race.
Even though it didn’t go fully to plan Hamilton, yet again he showed his skill and the pace he is capable of running at.  Next weekend Hamilton travels the Scottish circuit of Knockhill to build on his title lead following a controversy ending to the previous round at Snetterton in which saw him demoted from a race win to second by the BSB bosses.
It was on the last corner of the final lap in which Hamilton and Luke Jones came together with them both running slightly off track, but it was Hamilton who got ahead across the finish line.
Hamilton said: “We both ended up fighting for the inside line and touched, I just see it as a racing incident, but that is what’s been decided.  At least now its been dealt with and if at the end of the season I do win the season nobody can turn around and say it was because of that race.”
“It was hard after putting in all the work for that to happen, but I am ok about it, it’s done and dusted.  I am looking forward to Knockhill, I don’t really know the circuit well but I do seem to have a bit of luck.  I won in the Superteens once and I think my bike now is awesome especially after three straight weeks on the bike.”
