Donington WSBK: Crash puts Kennedy on sixth row

CIA Insurance Honda’s Jack Kennedy will start from the sixth row for the World Supersport race tomorrow, after a crash at the start of the qualifying session meant that his team were in a race against time to get his bike fixed for the remainder of the outing at Donington Park.

But luckily for the Dubliner his team were able to get his Honda back out and working and Kennedy completed a couple of laps to place him eighteenth. The rider is angry that he crashed, but a lack of grip in very wet conditions made the session difficult for the Irishman.

“We did the same at we did at Imola and we crashed early on and gave the boys more work to do again - unfortunately, and I only went out at the end for a limited amount of track time. If we were able to get a few more laps under our belt we could have been at the sharp end,” said Kennedy, speaking to bikesportnews.com at the track.

“If I get a good start I know that I can run at the front. I love the track and I do feel really comfortable on it. The crash was due to a lap of grip, and that was on my opening lap and  I was suddenly on my arse - and it hurt to.

“But the team did a great job, and I was able to go back out. We have been consistent and a dry race would be great for me so i'm hoping it doesn’t rain, but I am feeling confident.”
