Fixi Crescent Suzuki’s Leon Camier did not have much to celebrate over the weekend, as he found himself hitting the gravel, not once but twice in both World Superbike races at Donington Park, leaving the rider upset with his results at the Leicestershire circuit.
Camier crashed at Goddards in race one, after an altercation on track with Ducati Alstare’s Ayrton Badovini, which ended his chances on only his second lap as the rider was unable to carry on for the duration of the race.
“I don’t know what to say, the first race was more my mistake, and I was getting wound up that I did not get the best of starts. But we were not that strong in the last sectors, and I tried to force the issue, and I was getting frustrated and I was right behind Badovini and I braked for the last turn and I clipped his back wheel and I went straight over the handle bars,” said Camier, speaking to bikesportnews.com.
For the final World Superbike race the Kent rider is still perplexed as to why he crashed, leaving him feeling very frustrated. Camier fell again at Goddards but this time got back on his bike. Even though he found himself in last place he managed to claw his way up to thirteenth by the time he crossed the finishing line. But the Brit is still angry with the lack of points he failed to accumulate over the weekend.
“In race two I don’t know why I crashed. I felt a bit of a juddering movement so as I stood the bike up mid-corner because I was going in a bit hard and it went away from me. I was really not expecting that, so it is really frustrating. But I have to move on and try and get the feeling I had back last year with the bike.
“We did not come away with many points but we have been quite quick over the weekend, and in the last lap I was the quickest on track, so we had to pace to be OK. But in the beginning of the race I felt that I did not have any grip. I hurt my ankle and my thumb but it was just bashed, it was nothing but I am alright. We have to now forget about this weekend, as it is what it is.”
