Donington WSBK: Davies confident Ducati have the pace

Ducati’s Chaz Davies is confident that with his new team he can have a successful World Superbike weekend at Donington Park, at what is essentially a home round for the rider, and is hopeful that the Ducati will have the race-pace to compete for podiums.

The Welshman has not had the best of results at the circuit in the past but is still ‘buzzing’ at the thought of competing at the only British round in the calendar. Davies’ best result at the English track up until now was a sixth place finish, achieved during last year’s second race.

With regard to this season, and the most recent Imola round, results were positive, especially for Davies who stepped up to the podium twice after having powered his 1199 Panigale to a second place finish in both of the day’s races. With the Powys resident fifth overall in the championship standings he is looking to add to his points tally on Sunday.

“I’m really looking forward to Donington, also because it’s always a buzz for me to race in front of the home crowd. I’ve had difficulty there in Superbike races in the past but, having said that, I was a lot faster at Imola than I was last season at the same track, so I am hoping the same applies at Donington. It’s another of those tracks that’s worked well for Ducati in the past, so I’m looking forward to getting started,” said Davies.
