Donington WSBK: Iddon 'absolutely gutted' at missing potential podium

ParkinGO MV's Christian Iddon was left disappointed after a 'stupid crash' saw him miss out on a possible podium finish in the Supersport race this afternoon. The Stockport rider had to sit in the garage as he saw team-mate Roby Rolfo take the team's first podium. Despite this, he admits it was a positive weekend with the MV's finally coming to 'fruition'.

"I got exactly the start that I wanted. Done the first lap and that was clean, things started to settle down before I got into a melee at the Melbourne Loop. Zanetti came up the inside and pushed me a bit wide and at the same time Kenan [Sofuoglu] was closing in. I was left in the middle with nowhere to go and that's that. I'm absolutely gutted, from my side of the garage there's been so much hard work go in but then I'm really happy as we showed we can be up there all weekend and Roby has gone and shown that the potential of the bike is finally coming to fruition," said Iddon, speaking to bikesportnews.com after the race.

"It was such a stupid crash, 2mph and my leathers didn't even touch the ground but I bent the master cylinder and couldn't continue. We knew the bike was going to be good round here and Roby has excelled all our expectations with a fantastic race.

"That's amazing for the team to get their first podium, MV back on the podium too but next time I hope it's me. All in all it's positive. I feel sick with disappointment but at the same time we've got to take the good."
